Here are some highlights for the week ahead: 

Monday, Jan. 4

LIVE BANDS | The Pin! starts of the new year with a bountiful calendar of shows, including a fine one Monday featuring Two Knights, Deformer, Bad Hex and Boat Race Weekend

Tuesday, Jan. 5

OPEN MIC | It's the Open Mic of Open-ness at Jones Radiator, one of the friendliest open mic nights around. Have a spot of whiskey while you're there, they always have a good selection. 

Wednesday, Jan. 6

COMMUNITY | It's Rhetoric in the Ring Part II: The Reckoning! Actually, I made up "The Reckoning" part, but it IS the second edition of Rogers High School debaters taking on local politicians in a battle of wits and wordplay. It's all a fundraiser for the Rogers High Debate Team, so get on down there and cheer on the kids. 

Thursday, Jan. 7

VISUAL ARTS | The Richmond Art Collective welcomes Philadelphia artist Nile Livingston to town for an artist reception celebrating her show at the new downtown gallery. Watch for a story on the Richmond Art Collective in the next week's Inlander.  

COMEDY | Northern Quest continues its First Thursday Comedy showcases with a show at the Impulse Nightclub, lineup t.b.d. Meanwhile, it's also Guffaw Yourself open-mic comedy at Neato Burrito. 

Friday, Jan. 8

COMEDY | Steven Wright headlines a show at the Bing, featuring an endless onslaught of surreal one-liners that will have you laughing and thinking at the same time. Watch for an interview with Wright in Thursday's new edition of the Inlander. In the meantime, here are some of his best: 

Saturday, Jan. 9

COMMUNITY | Alright, time to come to grips with the fact the holidays are over. Good thing there's a Christmas Tree Recycling event at Central Valley High for you to use.
