Much of the home opener for the Spokane Indians opener against the Vancouver Canadians was a 2-1 game. Indians starter Michael Matuella threw for over three innings before being relieved, giving up a two-RBI double to Canadians second baseman Deiferson Barreto in the fourth inning. A two run RBI double by Indians outfielder Chad Smith in the bottom of the eight inning to score catcher Alex Kowalczyk and outfielder Darius Day, to take the lead at 3-2, wasn't enough as the Canadians rallied in the ninth inning to win 5-3. It started with an RBI double by Canadians first baseman Christian Williams scoring outfielder DJ McKnight to tie the game at 3-3. Then, first baseman Gabe Clark hit a two-RBI double scoring shortstop Yeltsin Gudino and first baseman Christian Williams, to take the lead for the Canadians at 5-3, which ended up being the final score.
