Victor Corral Martinez is a staff writer for the
Inlander, covering Spokane County and North Idaho. He joined the paper in 2024 after covering the news as a reporter and producer for Capitol Public Radio in Sacramento, California. Since joining the
Inlander, Victor has covered Idaho's overhauling of its
public defense system, a federal attorney program for
missing or murdered Indigenous people cases, Washington’s protections for
immigrants and refugees amid increased ICE sightings, along with stories focused on city and county infrastructure development.
Victor is proud to be from Los Angeles and his neighborhood of San Fernando, famous for the Mission San Fernando Rey de España. He attended Los Angeles Mission College and received degrees in political science and social and behavioral Science. Victor also attended Sacramento State University and is a graduate of the political science and journalism program. He formerly worked at the
Bonners Ferry Herald, covering controversial murders, extremist organizations, and the occasional high school football game. While at Capital Public Radio, Victor produced, directed and reported for the station's flagship public affairs program,
Insight, producing segments on farm workers’ rights, police violence, government programs and California wildfires. When not rooting for the Dodgers, Victor can often be found reading books on or by J.R.R. Tolkien.
