Boyd's NAMMY -- Local singer/songwriter and three-time NAMMY award-winner Jim Boyd made it a "four-peat" a couple of weeks ago as he picked up another Record of the Year award at the seventh annual Native American Music Awards in Hollywood, Fla., on Feb. 10. Boyd's 2004 release, Going to the Stick Games, had earned him nominations in the Record of the Year, Best Folk/Country Recording and Song/Single of the Year categories. He was also invited to perform at the ceremony. Over the years, Boyd has been nominated for a total of 10 NAMMYs (the Native American equivalent of the Grammy Awards) and has taken home four, including this year's award, his second Record of the Year. Congrats, Jim!

Finding Messiah -- Looking for some good tunes to get you revved up for your Friday night festivities? Check out the newest way to get pumped up: www.nwbeats.com. We recently got word from local spinster DJ Messiah that he, DJ DeeZee and DJ Elevation spin live over the Internet on Fridays from 7-11 pm. So if you're sick of all the local radio stations, check out these guys. They spin everything from house to tribal for your listening pleasure every week. And for those of you who party all night long on weekends, check out the Sunday morning "Wherever.U.Endup" show. Messiah reports that the site has already gained a following of listeners, and is ranked third on shoutcast.com for its genre.

As for the live DJ front, Messiah also informed us that he's no longer the resident DJ at the downtown Twilight Room. But don't fret; you can still catch him and his other cronies on Thursdays at Volcanoes, Fridays at the Merq and on Saturdays at Aki's Sushi Bar.
