It's ArtFest time at the MAC - online Friday through Sunday

Cheryl Brown is one of the 100 or so featured artists at this year's online ArtFest.

You can't stroll Coeur d'Alene Park in Browne's Addition, soaking up the unseasonable toasty weather while you peruse all manner of art, but that doesn't mean the Northwest Museum of Art & Culture's annual ArtFest isn't happening. It's just happening on your computer or phone.

"Since we weren't able to hold the usual outdoor gathering, we've moved the event online," says MAC Executive Director Wes Jessup in an introductory video. "ArtFest grew out of the MAC's commitment to support local art and artists, and we hope you'll support them, too, by making a purchase."

Washington state's prohibition on large gatherings is still cramping our style a bit, but the MAC didn't let that slow down its support of local and regional artists. ArtFest Online 2020 features a huge gallery of artists' work, and 100 percent of the sales will go directly to those artists. From printmakers to jewelry artists, painters to sculptors, you'll find browsing the roughly 100 artists' pages a relaxing change from your pandemic life.

The MAC has also curated a playlist of musicians who've performed at the festival in the past, including the likes of Fat Lady, Nick Grow and Vanna Oh!

Some of the other regular activities of ArtFest have moved online, including artist demonstrations, kids' activities (learn how to make your own "playdough" art), and lessons on how to make your own mobile.
