This year's Get Lit! festival is still putting the finishing touches on its full lineup, but
the slate is already filling up with some amazing authors, from local favorites Jess Walter and Sharma Shields to much-anticipated visitors like Tommy Orange and Kaveh Akbar.
Novelist, memoirist, editor and all-around badass
Roxane Gay is arguably the hottest ticket of the literary festival this year, and tickets for her April 27 appearance at the
Bing Crosby Theater go on sale Monday, Feb. 18, at 10 am,
via Tickets West outlets. They will cost $35 for the public, $25 for students with ID.
You probably don't want to wait too long before jumping on those, because Gay is sure to be a popular ticket. Her collection of essays,
Bad Feminist, is a landmark in the literature of modern feminism, and in 2017 she released two best-sellers,
Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body and her collection of short stories,
Difficult Women. Last year she edited an anthology,
Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture, and she is the first black woman to write for Marvel, doing a 2016 run in the Black Panther series called
World of Wakanda.
