It's safe to say that perhaps no one was as disappointed as those of us at the Inlander when a favorite lunch spot, Stella's Cafe, closed back in early 2017 to merge with its sister restaurant, Ruins. Inlander staff ordered lunch there often, and even though most of the Stella's sandwiches remain available at Ruins during lunch, we still missed the old Stella's vibe: the rough wood floor, funky alien artwork, exposed ceilings and bright, open dining area.

Not for much longer. Ruins and Stella's owner Tony Brown announced on Ruin's Facebook page this week that Stella's Cafe is coming back to a recently vacated spot in the Saranac Commons in downtown Spokane.

From that post, dated July 1:
"After a few years of looking for a spot to reinvent Stella’s, we’ve found a space. Stella’s sandwich shop will be open within the next month at 19 W. Main (in the Saranac commons). Our delicious sandwich menu will live again in a brightly lit space. Our old sandwich menu (complete with several vegan and vegetarian options) will come back. Ruins will offer a revamped lunch menu... more salads, pastas and entree items. So come see us at Ruins AND Stella’s. In the meantime, follow Stella’s @_stellascafe for all the latest updates! We’re excited to be in the same building as @caffe.affogato @blacklabelbc @moderntipispokane @parrishandgrove. Come eat a sandwich soon and REMEMBER: support your local business!"
Check back in the Inlander's food section for more on the Stella's forthcoming reopening in the Saranac Commons!
