Welsh trio the Joy Formidable are one excellent live band, one I've seen on tiny club stages and at massive festivals. And they are never more than highly engaged, a riveting, aggressive crew with tunes for days.

Their fourth album, AAARTH, arrived in fall of 2018, and they're looping back through the states for a summer tour, including a stop at the Lucky You Lounge July 18. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 am; they'll cost $18 in advance, $20 day of show, through the venue website.

The new album is a full-on rock gem sure to please longtime fans while pushing the Joy Formidable in some new, psychedelic-ish directions. Singer Ritzy Bryan unleashes her wail in ever-pleasing wails on songs like "Go Loving" and "The Wrong Side."
