Through the Woods -- If you're looking for a few more things to do this weekend, consider these options: The annual s.m.ART by the River takes place near St. Maries this weekend. This weekend-long arts gathering offers more than 60 booths filled with fine arts, crafts and food, and there's a hands-on art area for the Play-Doh and juice box set. Live entertainment has been scheduled to run throughout the weekend, and the festival includes a silent auction, a "clothesline art sale" (featuring items from $5-$50), and even a dinner cruise up the Shadowy St. Joe River on the good ship "Idaho." If you're of a more literary bent, you really ought to check out the North County Writers' Group reading and lakeside campout this weekend in Metaline. The open-mike poetry reading takes place at the Western Star Bar & amp; Grill on Hwy. 31 this Saturday night at 7 pm. Spader Watch Update -- It's the kind of thing that only happens here in the Buzz Bin. Just a day or two after we put the call out for any James Spader sightings, we notice this enormous RV parked right behind our building. A few of us Buzz Bin-ites walked right past it, oblivious that the Snaky One himself was just inches away. But our intrepid music writer Mike Corrigan sized up the situation right away.


"Spader?" he asked one of the security goons posted outside, jerking his thumb in the direction of said R.V.


"Heh... Heh... I really couldn't say..." replied the security goon.


We found out later that Mike's Spay-dar is indeed both set on "high" and incredibly accurate. Spader was filming a scene from his upcoming North by Northwest movie somewhere in the cavernous bowels of the Spokane Club.





The Way We Like It -- Shakespeare al fresco. A romantic comedy performed at twilight to a swaying breeze. Four couples twirl in a stylized Middle Eastern wedding dance as a full moon rises -- somehow, this feels like the way As You Like It was supposed to be seen. The current production at the Idaho Rep (through July 26), directed by UI theater professor Nike Imoru, uses its outdoor setting about as well as we've ever seen. So bring your lawn chairs and a picnic. Performances of three other plays in repertory (all indoors) - Always ... Patsy Cline, Biloxi Blues and Steel Magnolias -- continue through July 27.
