NEWS: Lori Isenberg was booked into the Kootenai County Jail last night. The 64-year-old North Idaho woman had been on the lam since May after she was charged with embezzling about a half million dollars from a housing nonprofit. She is also a suspect in her husband Larry Isenberg's death.

WEED: Police effectiveness in Washington and Colorado has improved since both states legalized marijuana, a new study from Washington State University suggests. Researchers don't draw a direct cause-and-effect relationship, but "it's absolutely fair to say legalization has had some influence," says David Makin, assistant professor in WSU's department of criminal justice and criminology.

Boy charged in Kent officer's death
A 16-year-old boy is charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Kent police officer. Emiliano Garcia led police on a high-speed chase after a night of drinking turned violent. The chase ended after at least one of Garcia's tires were punctured and the pickup truck he was driving, with two 17-year-old passengers, flipped. Officer Diego Moreno, 35, was hit by a pursuing police SUV after he laid out spike strips. (Seattle Times)

Alzheimer's drug breakthrough
For the first time, a large clinical trial gives some hope in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Results showed that the drug, known as BAN2401, can clear plaque in the brain and slow the progression of dementia. (New York Times)
