New representative
The Spokane City Council unanimously voted to appoint Betsy Wilkerson to the vacant council seat representing District 2. Wilkerson is the board president of the Carl Maxey Center in the East Central neighborhood and is the first African American person to serve on the council in almost 20 years. (Spokesman-Review)
