Sunrise on the savanna. Mufasa "the L.K." and his wife Sarabi have a new baby boy, Simba. Animals enter to pay their respects. Rafiki holds the kid aloft, animals bow down. But Mufasa's evil bro Scar covets the throne.
Flash forward to Simba, cocky cub, beside Mufasa, righteous king. All this will be yours one day, my son. But respect the Circle of Life -- and whatever you do, don't visit the land of the hyenas.
Simba visits the land of the hyenas. (He just can't wait to be king.) Hyenas threaten Simba and his little friend, Nala. Mufasa to the rescue.
Scar lures in Simba, orchestrates a stampede, kills his brother, blames it all on Simba. But the hyenas neglect to whack the cub.
Animals mourn Mufasa, knuckle under to King Scar. Simba's assumed dead.
Instead, Simba stumbles into the Jungle Room, where the hilarious meerkat/warthog comedy team of Timon and Pumbaa are currently playing. No worries, forget about those lions, end Act One.
Under Scar's reign, hyenas trash the Pridelands. Nala can't take it anymore, especially after Scar's yucky advances. She sets out to discover new lands for lionesses.
While hunting, Nala stalks a warthog. Guess which warthog. Suddenly, some lion comes to Pumbaa's defense. Guess which lion.
Simba decides to break into song. Soon his endless night will end -- which is good, because this happens to be the night when he and Nala are feeling the love. Simba gets a reminder about where Mufasa lives. Big trouble for Scar.
... and you'll just have to go to see the rest.
