Primary election day: How to find your nearest drop box

Today is Aug. 7 and that means Washington's primary election is here.

Voters either need to get their ballot postmarked today (the state is footing the bill this election so you either have a prepaid envelope or were provided a stamp), or they can drop it at one of the many available drop boxes before 8 pm tonight.

In races with more than two people, the two candidates receiving the most votes, regardless of party affiliation, will move on to the November ballot. So, for example, that long list of 28 candidates vying to oust Democratic U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell will shrink to just two names after today.

For easy links to your voters' guide information or to find drop box locations, log into MyVote on the Washington secretary of state's website by entering your name and birthday.

For Spokane County, here's a list of drop boxes from the elections office:

Native American Art Market @ Coeur d'Alene Casino

Through Nov. 24, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Through Dec. 1, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
