Well, the smoke got in our eyes: Our outdoor Suds & Cinema screening of the 1978 musical Grease, previously scheduled for this Thursday evening, is being postponed to Thursday, Sept. 6, due to unhealthy air conditions.
Keep your fingers crossed for less toxic weather.
The upcoming event will still be free and family-friendly and held at Olmsted Park in Kendall Yards (2335 W. Summit Pkwy.). Seating will be available beginning at 6:30 pm — we encourage you to bring your own blanket to sit on — and the film starts at dusk.
As is typical of our Suds & Cinema events, we don't mind if you mill about or even talk back to the movie. In fact, we're encouraging you to belt it out along with the stars: The lyrics to those memorable songs will be up on-screen, karaoke-style.
A beer garden will be open for those 21 and older, serving $5 pints from Icicle Brewing; proceeds benefit the arts collective Terrain. Our friends at Brain Freeze Creamery will also be on hand, providing free scoops of ice cream courtesy of Horizon Credit Union (while supplies last).
We hope to see all you T-Birds and Pink Ladies there.
