Chocolate lovers — brace yourselves. The Inlander has confirmed that DeVerne Augustus, owner of award-winning chocolate company French Quarter and the store of the same name, will no longer be making his award-winning truffles. Due to health problems, the chocolatier says he cannot devote the length of time it takes to make the delicacies that made our mouths water.
Augustus' store, French Quarter, will stay open without the truffles. Augustus says the shop will focus on its wine selection instead. French Quarter will also continue to showcase local artisans at its First Friday event each month. Augustus says he stopped making chocolates in the middle of October — so if you want to get your hands on his famous salted caramels and chipotle truffles, you'd better hustle on over to the store. French Quarter is located at 1311 W. Sprague Ave.
