UPDATE — Jack and Dan's

Serving as one of the prime spots outside of the McCarthey Athletic Center to watch a Zags game, Jack and Dan’s has long been known as a Gonzaga student, alum and sports fan hangout. One of Spokane’s most storied watering holes, the bar’s historic brick building on Hamilton Street was home to “Louie’s Snappie Service,” a home-delivery booze joint that operated during Prohibition and delivered beer via motorcycle to neighborhood homes. The restaurant changed hands quite a few times before Jack Stockton — father of hometown hero John Stockton — bought the joint in the early ’60s and remained a co-owner up until 2006. Now, depending on the time of day, you can find neighborhood regulars, Gonzaga students in droves or suit-and-tie guys having a business lunch. But whenever you show up, go for the Reuben sandwich — you won’t regret it.
