Celebrated local chef and restaurateur Adam Hegsted opened the whimsical themed — both evident in its decor and playful comfort-food menu — Gilded Unicorn back in 2013 inside the cozy basement of the historic Montvale Hotel. Look for tasty, shareable bites like gumbo hush puppies, "dungeon pockets" (housemade pizza rolls) and a birthday cake skillet for dessert, as well as more Hegsted's creative takes on traditional classics, such as a cast iron flat steak with "campfire butter" and Northwest salmon with wild mushroom risotto and blackberry mustard.
