Good People

When single mother Margie Walsh is fired from her job at a dollar store, she and her disabled daughter are left facing a set of financial challenges. Seeking a new job, Margie reaches out to her high school boyfriend Mike. While the two both grew up in Southie, a blue-collar Boston neighborhood, Mike became a doctor and left the neighborhood behind. The play follows Margie’s journey to ensure the welfare of her daughter, touching on the issue of classism in the U.S. and how it impacts our lives. The play was written by David Lindsay-Abaire, who grew up in South Boston, personally saw class divides throughout his childhood, and was thus inspired to write Good People.
