There are few bands that can match the dreamy grace of Alvvays. And Wednesday night at the felt like a dream for local indie rock fans as Alvvays returned to the Knitting Factory with the also delightful The Beths in tow.
There were clearly a ton of fans of the New Zealand quartet in the crowd as The Beths cruised through a welcomingly upbeat set. The energetic response after each tune and the consistently long line for their merch indicated that folks in Spokane aren’t sleeping on the Kiwi band.
When it was Alvvays’ turn to take the stage, the Canadian group once again displayed why it’s legitimately one of the best bands going. With frontwoman Molly Rankin’s lovely vocals leading the way, the band explored a collection of song their stellar discography with ace precision and emotional heft. The projected visuals though out the set matched the tone perfectly and also made for one of the most visually appealing show the Knitting Factory has ever hosted.
Considering this is their second straight year stopping in Spokane, it appears Alvvays realizes they’re always beloved here. Hopefully we won’t have to wait long for the next visit.
