Spokane Symphony Masterworks 1: The Turning World

Pianist Awadagin Pratt has had quite a career thus far. He teaches piano at the San Francisco Conservatory, won a Grammy this past year, and, most importantly, appeared alongside big-name stars like Elmo and Big Bird on Sesame Street. This weekend, Pratt will join the Spokane Symphony on the Fox Theater stage in the group’s first Masterworks program of the season to perform the Grammy award-winning song “Rounds” composed by Jessie Montgomery. Bookended by performances of Max Richter’s “On the Nature of Daylight” and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, all three works are filled with passion from the first note to the last — fitting for the first Spokane Symphony concert of the season.
