On Sunday night Santana rolled into Spokane Arena for a stop on the band's "Blessings and Miracles" tour, and as one might expect, it was an evening of fiery guitar work from band leader Carlos Santana, plenty of killer Latin rhythms, and more than one long, winding speech from the legend as he waxed on about spirituality, unity and "dreaming big."
With his wife Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, Carlos Santana and his large band hit the stage with an inspiring batch of his earliest, best work, including "Soul Sacrifice," "Evil Ways," "Black Magic Woman" and "Oye Coma Va."
As the evening progressed, the band hit on covers like "She's Not There," delivered some of Santana's later pop hits like "The Game of Love" and, of course, "Smooth," and even though the arena was probably one-third full, that never seemed to hurt the energy on stage from Santana and his charges.
